"A Women's Work Is Never Done:
 Faith Ringgold"

In 2012 there was a wonderful exhibit at City College, N.Y. in celebration of the art and life of artist Faith Ringgold. This work was created for that exhibition.

"A Women's Work....was inspired by my memory of an ancient African Sculpture I once saw in the British Museum. Within the woman's braids I have used glass letter beads to spell out different sayings about women, for example "A women's work is never done"

This work is machine felted. I used wool, silk and acrylic yarns, cheesecloth, crystals, vintage glass beads, confetti, mother of pearl buttons, sheets of Angelina fibers and glass alphabet beads which have been hand stitched down. Machine quilted with metallic threads

  Dimensions:  26" x 36"
